My boyfriend and I took a trip to CVS or maybe even Walgreens because I needed a prescription. When we had gotten to the door, a worker looked pretty frantic telling people they needed to evacuate the building somehow or they could stay and hide for some reason. My boyfriend and I just asked to picked up our prescriptions but he said “No theres literally a national emergency right now, stay here or get out”. We stayed and hid with a bunch of other people and while we hid in the corner of the store, I could see the front window of the store and people running away from something. I saw someone running then suddenly hit the ground and I said out loud “oh my god someone has a gun, theres a shooter”. Of course everyone started panicking and so I took my boyfriend to a different room to hide in and we hid behind a couch. Unfortunately the shooter made it into the store and I heard shots coming from the original hiding spots and screams. Then the man made it into our room, the twist is he did didn’t see us because he seemed to be blind. So our only way to live was to be pin drop quiet. My boyfriend and I hid in fear, then his phone went off with a text message from his mom saying “Are you ok”. The shooter heard it and shot my boyfriend. That was about it
Dreams often serve as a reflection of our subconscious mind, embodying our fears, anxieties, hopes, and experiences. Your dream contains several significant elements that can be unpacked to better understand its symbolism and what it may be communicating to you.
The setting of your dream — a CVS or Walgreens — represents a familiar, everyday place where you typically feel safe. This location transforms into a site of chaos, suggesting a feeling of instability in your waking life. The frantic worker represents a sudden disturbance or unexpected upheaval, accentuating your feelings of vulnerability or a sense of losing control.
The announcement of a national emergency indicates underlying anxieties or stressors in your life. This could symbolize a fear of global or societal issues spilling into personal life. It may also reflect feelings of being unprepared or threatened by events beyond your control.
Your choice to hide with your boyfriend suggests a need for support and safety in times of distress. It reflects the bond you have and the reliance on each other during challenging moments. This aspect of the dream underscores the importance of companionship, especially during troublesome times. However, the act of hiding may also suggest a desire to escape from confronting certain realities.
The figure of the shooter in your dream represents an external threat — possibly a manifestation of your deepest fears or anxieties. This figure’s blindness highlights the unpredictability of dangers in life. It suggests that some threats may come when you least expect them, or that emotional distress may feel blind to you, appearing without warning.
The text message from your boyfriend's mom asking if he’s okay reveals the theme of concern and communication. In stressful situations, communication can provide a sense of reassurance. However, in your dream, this message becomes a catalyst for fear, leading to your boyfriend being shot. This could represent your fears of disappointment, loss of connection, or the impact that external communication can have during crises.
Throughout the dream, themes of powerlessness and vulnerability are prevalent. The feeling of being trapped in a corner and needing to remain silent indicates a fear of losing protection. It embodies a struggle to take control of your situation or feelings amidst chaos.
This dream may be highlighting your feelings of insecurity and anxiety about current issues in your life, whether personal or societal. It expresses a powerful need for safety, support, and a fear of unexpected tragedies. Additionally, it reflects deep emotional ties with your boyfriend, along with concerns for loved one's well-being.
To further interpret this dream, consider any real-life situations or stressors you may be facing. Are there aspects of your life where you feel vulnerable? Reflecting on these elements may provide deeper insights into your waking experiences and feelings. Engaging in supportive conversations with your boyfriend about your dreams and fears could also foster closeness and reassurance.
